Working out helps keep your body in good shape

Working out is the same thing as exercise. Working out is healthy for everyone! It is healthy for people with spinal cord injuries, too. It can help:

  • Make your heart healthy.
  • Keep your weight healthy.
  • Make it easier for you to do things.
  • Prevent pressure ulcers (which is what a doctor or nurse calls pressure sores or bedsores).
  • Keep your joints from locking in place. (Doctors call locked joints contractures.)
  • Keep your muscles normal.
  • Keep you fit.

People who do not do healthy things can get pressure ulcers. How can working out prevent pressure ulcers? People who do healthy things have less chance of getting a pressure ulcer. Here are the healthy things to do to prevent pressure ulcers:

Fruit and vegetables

Eating healthy food makes your body strong and keeps your weight down
