"Now I Get It!"

Man brushing teeth

Brushing your teeth is a good habit!

Doing something every day in the same way is called a habit. Part of a habit is deciding it is important to do. Part of a habit is choosing how you will do something. We all learn habits.

Brushing your teeth is a habit. It is a habit because it is important to you and you do it your own way. Brushing is important because it gives you good breath. It keeps your teeth healthy. Everyone brushes their own way. Do you brush your top teeth first? Do you brush your bottom teeth first? Does your caregiver help you?

You learned to brush your teeth. When you saw brushing was important, you started doing it. You learned to do it your own way. You said to yourself, "Now I get it!" Habits start when you say, "Now I get it!"
