Wheelchairs and Other Equipment

Man in wheelchair

Your wheelchair is equipment you use, but there's lots more too

Equipment is a name for special things you use to help do things. You use equipment when you have a spinal cord injury. (Your doctor might use a fancy word: assistive devices [uh-SISS-tiv duh-VYSS-us].)

An example of equipment is your wheelchair. A toothbrush with a big handle can also be equipment.

The right equipment is very important. Equipment can help you get things done. Equipment can help keep you healthy.

The wrong equipment can hurt you. Broken equipment can hurt you. Be sure you have the right equipment!
